We are looking for an experienced and dependable Construction Laborer / Machine Operator & Driver
This is a hands-on field position for someone with strong site work experience who can operate equipment, drive commercial vehicles, read plans, set grades, and work alongside the crew performing labor when needed. The right candidate must be reliable, safety-minded, and able to work both independently and in a team environment.
Applicants must have a valid Massachusetts Hoisting License 2A/1C, CDL Class A or B, OSHA 10, and a minimum of 5 years of site work experience.
Required Qualifications
• Minimum of 5 years of site work, excavation, utility, or heavy civil experience
• Valid Massachusetts Hoisting License 2A/1C required
• CDL Class B required; CDL Class A preferred
• OSHA 10 certification required
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans
• Ability to run a laser, check elevations, and set grade
• Experience operating construction equipment such as excavators, loaders, backhoes, skid steers, dozers, and related site work machinery
• Experience driving dump trucks or other construction-related commercial vehicles
• Strong knowledge of excavation methods, trenching, grading, backfilling, demolition, foundation excavation, and job-site safety
• Ability to work independently or as part of a crew
• Willing and able to perform manual labor as part of the position
Experience Preferred
• Water and sewer work
• Title V septic system installation
• Drainage systems, including stormwater systems, footing drains, piping, and structures
• Demolition work and site clearing
• Foundation excavation and digging to plan elevations
• Utility trenching, pipe installation, and backfill
• Site preparation, grading, and finish grading
• Working around inspectors, subcontractors, clients, and other trades
Duties & Responsibilities
• Perform general site work labor, including hand digging, trenching, pipe work, material handling, and site cleanup
• Operate machinery safely and efficiently when needed
• Drive commercial vehicles, including dump trucks and other construction-related vehicles
• Read and follow site plans, layout, elevations, and construction drawings
• Set, check, and verify grades using lasers, grade rods, and staking
• Assist with demolition, site clearing, and removal of debris
• Dig foundations according to plans, grades, and required elevations
• Assist with installation of water, sewer, septic, and drainage systems
• Perform excavation, grading, trenching, backfill, and compaction operations
• Conduct basic equipment and truck inspections to maintain safety and performance
• Maintain a clean, safe, and productive job site
• Work closely with the foreman and crew to maintain quality, production, and schedule
• Represent the company professionally with clients, inspectors, subcontractors, and other trades
