I’m offering my 2001 Western Star dump truck for sale. This is a solid, well-maintained truck that is still working regularly and has been looked after properly over the years. It’s powered by a CAT 3406E engine paired with a tight 15-speed transmission that shifts smoothly and pulls strong. The truck runs, drives, and operates exactly as it should and has plenty of life left for the next owner.
The truck is equipped with air ride rear suspension, making it comfortable on the road and stable under load. A Wheel Monitor SPIF axle was installed in 2023, adding reliability and peace of mind. For its age, this truck is in very good overall condition and has clearly been maintained rather than just run into the ground.
It was last safetied in July 2025, and based on its current condition, it should not need much—if anything—to pass again. I’m willing to sell it with a fresh safety for the right price, so that option is available if needed.
A major highlight of this truck is the recent mechanical work. The entire driveshaft from the transmission to the front differential was completely rebuilt, including all hanger bearings, yokes, and U-joints, all done less than 5,000 km ago. This was not a partial repair—it was done properly to ensure long-term reliability. The truck also has brand new thermostats, giving it excellent heat in colder conditions, and a new steering assist cylinder, which has noticeably improved steering response and overall drivability.
The tires are in good shape as well. The truck has new steer tires, with good drive tires and lift tires, so there’s no immediate tire expense waiting for the next owner. Everything works as it should, and the truck is ready to keep earning money without needing to be parked for repairs.
I’m asking $65,000 for the 2001 Western Star. The truck is still in daily use, so mileage may go up slightly. I’m not in a rush to sell and won’t be giving it away—this is a dependable working truck, not a project.
