The Historical Society of Santuit & Cotuit is seeking a part time Curator/Archivist for 14 hours per week with flexible days and hours. Ideal position for a retired academic.
Exceptional research and writing skills, basic knowledge of Cape Cod history (Cotuit history is a big plus!), and an investigative nature are all required.

Responsibilities:
· Oversees the permanent collection, including presenting potential acquisitions to the Board for consideration, cataloging, storage, preservation, interpretation, accession and deaccession. Handles the loan of objects to other organizations. Arranges for periodic reappraisal of the collection.
· Creates and curates new exhibitions (generally one per season) and directs their installation in coordination with the Board President. Responsible for informational content of exhibit wall boards. Updates permanent displays as needed.
· Maintains archive records in PastPerfect.
· Responsible for storage and preservation of all archival artifacts.
· Responds to requests for historical information on Cotuit from researchers and the public.
· Ensures the Homestead and Museum are prepared for visitors during open hours.
· Works with the Board’s Docent Coordinator in educating docents regarding the Homestead’s history and objects.
· Writes a monthly article pertaining to Cotuit history and/or new acquisitions for HSSC’s email newsletter.
· Gives occasional presentations to the public.
