Official shellfish/quahog diggers basket. Made of steel with wire wrapped rim. Very rigid and sturdy. Has Town of Wellfleet Shellfish plastic plaque on front and other signage "Dumps to bay".
I lived in Orleans in the 90's, and my landlord who I shared a house with, was from France. He use to tell me stories remembering the of the Nazi's and then the Americans, when he was a kid. And every single morning, he would go quahog digging. He'd then make quahog clam chowder, and leave me some daily, with handmade French baguette that he baked.
His name was Charles Heudes. here is a link to his Obituary. Pretty interesting and nice man. RIP.
