Crosby sloop designed by Dan Knott and built by Chet Crosby in Osterville, MA. #3 of 6 built. One is in the Crosby Museum and was donated by Senator John Warner and was owned by he and his wife, Elizabeth Taylor, who spent many years cruising the Cape.
This classic keel centerboard day sailor/ weekender is mahogany planked on sawn white oak frames with teak decks, mahogany coamings and lazarrette bench seats with deck stepped spruce mast, boom and jib boom with a Yanmar diesel inboard.
Solid build that would survey well. Very good in heavy air and shallow water. 26' overall with boom kin. 25" draft board up, 4' down. Center board and rudder are fiberglass. Solid and NO ROT...A worthy investment and a boat that will last for decades.
This beautiful sloop with club foot jib came down to NJ from Mussel Cove, Maine in 2015.
Needs some restoration
The last time a Curlew came to market was 2011 and was offered at $30,000 with canvas decks instead of teak..
And no brokers or other agents to assist in the sale. The low price reflects the paint, varnish and mechanicals needed...
Have a great day and keep dreaming of summer!
