Several musicians from the band APSE, (myspace.com/apse) relocated to the cape in the late months of 2007. Since moving into a 2-building home in Eastham, they have conducted all creative operations from this new location.

Cape Cod Experimental strives to bring together younger experimental musicians, and otherwise creative peoples based on the cape.

There already exist a few arenas for musicians on the cape. We fully support and encourage those already active in the artistic community. However, Cape Cod Experimental is interested in creating an underground of collaborative peoples who are particularly geared toward a more experimental approach to creating music and art.

Several members of the CCE have found that while there is a community for music performances on the cape, there should be a greater collective, collaborative environment, consisting of house shows, collaborative recording and releasing of material, collaborative artwork and writing, and a greater emphasis on music and art related events and activities.

CCE plans to conduct the following:

• House shows at Apse's modest home recording studio in Eastham.

• Music Night:

Music night will be a bi-weekly, opened-invitation event taking place in Eastham, where each week one album is chosen by a different member of the CCE. Each album will be played in its entirety from start to finish with a strong emphasis on listening closely to the music, preferably in silence. This is a pastime that members of CCE have conducted in various college environments and has proven to be very successful, both in getting people to pay closer attention to recorded music, and also, more importantly, turning people onto different records from the past 50 years that they otherwise may have missed.

• Collaborative Recording:

Using both tape machines and a mac-based recording setup, CCE will hold group 'sessions' in which multiple persons record improvisational music together, usually more geared toward noise and ambient-based material.

Recordings will be mixed down, archived, and available to all who participated or are interested.

For now, these are our only plans in terms of events. Its very possible that as CCE grows, other events, both public and private will be conducted. We're just getting started. Its important to keep in mind, this collective has been organized to combat the lack of arts events on the cape that cater to a younger crowd. We understand there are many bands on the cape, and we acknowledge Tim and the whole From The Heart crew. At least someone is doing something to make things happen out here. We find ourselves often stating that there's nothing to do, socially on the cape, that we always wish there was more going on, more options. A place to go with a group of like minded people just to hang out, listen to music, talk about ideas. More house shows, more people getting together, collaborating on various recording projects, etc etc etc.

Ultimately that the only real way to make this happen is to do it ourselves. So please, join us. Get in touch, find out about events, help coordinate, contribute, be a part of our community.

My name is Jake Nochimow and I am spending the summer at home in Mattapoisett, MA and am looking to pick up some drum students who are interested in studying with me until the end of August. I have been studying drum set for 12 years and teaching for 5. I am in several bands (rock, jazz, and funk), often record with musicians surrounding the Hampshire College area in Western MA, and have intensively studied classical technique throughout high school, which lead to a best in state performance at Symphony Hall in Boston, MA. I am currently involved in projects spanning from the creation of a movie soundtrack to various records (hip-hop and jazz). I have been studying at Hampshire College with multi-reedist Marty Ehrlich and bassist/guitarist Jerome Harris. Both are currently involved in international tours and have played with musicians like Sonny Rollins, Peter Erskine, Billy Martin, and more.

If you are interested in studying with me we can create a custom listening and practicing routine involving many performance techniques, types of music, and practice regimes, all of which will be tailored to your choices and aspirations.

i've made records with david bowie, natalie imbruglia,candybutchers, and dozens of boston and providence independants like the montgomerys,juliana hatfield and sasquatch and the sickabillys. i've done literally thousands of gigs and have major label AND DIY touring experience. i've played on a number of advertising jingles for the baltimore orioles, NESN, the washington nationals and general motors. i've been featured in articles in spin, rolling stone, the boston globe and modern drummer.

i charge $40 per hour lesson at my place in providence and $120 for intensive 2 hour "house calls" in mass and ri. i'm open to any frequency of drum lessons that fits an individual's schedule and budget. with one 2 hour lesson i can load you up with enough stuff to practice for months!


if you like to practice and love music, i can make learning and improving on the kit a fun and rewarding experience. we will go at YOUR PACE and we'll work on what YOU WANT TO LEARN. no specific method, totally custom made to your drum needs. just enough dry technique stuff to get you started or to help you unlearn all those bad drum habits. from then on, all practical, all the time. we will focus on the stuff that makes other musicians turn around and smile at the drummer rather then the stereotypical "it's the drummers fault" nonsense.
