"In 1976 the State Legislators of Massachusetts proposed to merge Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and Cape Cod into a single district. At that time Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket were separate districts and had there own elected representatives for the State Legislature of Massachusetts. The merge with the area of Cape Cod was proposed due to make up the required population to have state representation because of a law passed in 1970. There was a great public outcry on Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket because of this.

On February 16, 1977 the selectmen of the seven towns forming Martha's Vineyard voted in favor of secession from Massachusetts and proposed becoming 51st State of the Union or perhaps even an independent nation. This recieved national attention and on February 18th the NBC evening news featured David Brinkley talking about the newly designed Martha's Vineyard flags.

This is a reproduction of an antique primitive rocking horse. The horse alone is approximately 22" high by 24" wide at the highest and widest points. Antique Picture -European Girl at Water Fountain - LOOK! (West Barnstable) $75

This is a very old picture of what looks to be a european girl (perhaps Italy?), leaning over and drinking from a water fountain. I really don't know much about it or its origin. I inherited it from my uncle who owned an antique business. I was told recently that it was very old given the frame and the wooden back.

It has a decorative wood carved gold leaf? frame, matted in a textured glossy gold and with a glass overlay. The overall frame measures 14.5" wide by 18.5" tall. The picture inside measures 6.5" wide by 10.5" wide. Still has original nails and hanging wire.

Asking $75.
