I completely agree with the postings about rent being outrageous. I am currently living in Chatham for a very reasonable price but it's only a 1 bed 1 bath. I've been glancing at rentals on here in hopes of moving in the near future but with the ridiculous prices on here it's not even worth it. I can't believe there's 1 bedrooms 1 bath going for $1000 plus per month with nothing included. Most people can't do that. As far as the 2 bedrooms, forget it those are $1600 plus with nothing included.

Landlords need to consider that this economy is bad enough with people getting laid off. Good point about credit checks in the previous post. That will not determine if rent is paid, how about some references instead? If you want your mortgage paid that bad you would lower your rent and at least try to attract someone to your place then work out first, last, security so it's reasonable. No one is even going to click on a place that's 1800 plus, it's just not affordable right now and your rentals are going to be sitting for a long time. No pets is another thing.. I understand people are worried about carpeting and things but make it an agreement or require a pet deposit. That is going to turn a lot of people away as well.

This person is absolutely right, i just want to add that alot of you landlords looking to rent, are not even offering the quality this person is talking about...I have seen 2 house in the last week 1600/mo each and i was discusted at how fallen apart these homes are...if you want to rent your home, then rent it for what it is worth, not for what everyone else is renting for. I would pay more for quality, but i just cant seem to find it in the cape. Good Luck...dont even get me started with places not allowing pets.

I cannot seem to wrap my mind around these rental prices?????!!?!?!?!? I don't care if your home has lush gardens with hydrangeas and pansies... I dont care if your toilet seats are marble... People are not going to pay your $2000 mortgage payment on your 2 bedroom cape b/c that is just not affordable! If someone is going to be shelling out 2000 a month, they will probably be better off buying a home and mortgaging that amount. You people are completely ridiculous! Its no wonder young people are moving away from cape cod, its completely unaffordable, especially in this crappy economy! Good luck trying to rent your dumpy ranch house that smells like cat pee for $1400 a month!!

Oh and P.S. renters... Credit checks are bogus, someone's credit score doesn't determine whether they pay their rent on time or not...And First, Last and security is NOT DO-ABLE for most people! We all cant shell out $3500 out of pocket for your rental... In these trying times, why dont you people try to accept partial monthly payments in addition to rent until the person pays off the F,L&S... make it part of the rental agreement/contract...
